Tech Woodwork: Finished design

Today I had received my finished locomotive that I've been working on at tech for woodwork. I feel so proud of myself because I had never ever completed or started making anything that is related to woodwork. I would like to thank Mr Grundy from Tamaki College for teaching us how to make objects like my locomotive out of wood and also for teaching us about housing joints and also for teaching us.

BEDMAS

This is a DLO on BEDMAS. BEDMAS is an order of operations which has 6 different operations, Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction. If you are doing a equation based one BEDMAS we always have to start from Brackets and then look for exponents. For example
First we have to do the brackets. 5 x 5 = 25.
Then we have to do the exponents 252 25 x 25= 625
Now we have to do it from left to right 625 x 3 = 1875
Then we have to do 1875 - 4 = 1871
Now we have to add 1 to the 1871 which is 1872
and the answer is 1872.

Tech: Cooking

Today for tech we did cooking. First we were introduced to Mrs Tepulotu. Then we had to get in 7 groups of 2 which we will be in for the next 4 weeks. So I decided to go with Joshua W because I worked with him before. Before we started cooking, we were shown the different equipment in the kitchen. Our first thing to make was a milk shake. The ingredients were: Ice Cream, Milk, Oreo biscuits. I really enjoyed cooking this week. The Milk shake was delicious...Yum!!

Dance

Today we did dance. First we had to do some warm up moves and it was my groups turn share our warm up moves. Unfortunately my partner was away so I had to do it with another person and I worked with Freeman. After we had done our warm up moves, we watched a video of SADECK x AMMAR doing different shapes, angles, heights... Then we had to find a partner and try doing some moves similar to them, and I worked with Freeman again. For getting new ideas we both watch different videos from the same people: Here is the video that we watched. We really enjoyed this session.

GOLD CARE Award: RESPECT: Cooking dinner for the whole family

This is a DLO I have created of me cooking dinner for my whole family. I really like cooking but I am not sure if I like fish curry because it is really spicy. I had lots of fun making dinner and I think that I did an awesome job. I did this as part of my CARE awards. It is under respect.

Dance with Mrs Anderson

This week in dance we all did Ma'ata, Magenta and Mrs Linda's warm up. It was fun and next week it is Joshua W and my turn to take the warm up. After that we were learning about making different angular shapes, curve shape, twisted shapes and straight shapes. We also learnt to do shapes with our body in a high, medium and in a low level, also Mrs Anderson taught us about free flow and bound flow. A free flow is when you move your body like rubber and bound flow is when you move your body like a robot. After that I had to find a partner and make three different shapes with my body and move in time to the music of Oxygene by Jean-Michel Jarre.

The photo on the left our square shape and the photo on the right is our triangle shape.

Problem Solving

Today for maths I had created a google drawing based on questions that Ms Kirkpatrick put on our maths site. After that we had to find out the answers using multiplication and division strategy.

World of Maths

Yesterday LS2 and LS1 went to the hall for World of Maths. World of Maths is about making maths fun. We had to work as a team and solve problems together. Before we were split into groups we met a person called Charles and he talked to us about World of Maths. In my group there were five students. Our first problem to solve was Colour Pattern. For Colour Pattern we used our adding and subtracting skills to change the colours. We found Colour Pattern hard so we moved on to another challenge called Square It Up.  Square It Up is a problem solving game and we had to make a big square using different sized triangles, for this game we used our adding and subtracting skills as well. We really enjoyed having to think hard and come up with the answers.
