Strategy Practice

Miki, Ofa and I had started doing our Strategy practice.
We worked collaboratively and managed to get 5 practice questions completed. We think that this strategy practice will help us with our division remainders lots.

Why it is so important to keep oral storytelling alive?

Keeping Maori storytelling alive is important because it helps people remember their culture’s history. When each generation hears stories about it, it keeps them captivated.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Freeman, San Kyaw and I had made an 25 word summary. In the 25 word summary we had to answer a question. But before that we watched a 2 minute video about "Why it is so important to keep oral storytelling alive? (Question)"
We all had a learning conversation and worked collaboratively.
We think that storytelling is important because it keeps children captivated when they hears about it.

Ordering fractions

To for maths I did the Ordering Fraction game. This game was a little bit tough but it was also a little bit easy to do. I had 5 lives and luckly I did not loose any of my lives.

How Maui slowed the sun

San Kyaw, Affonso and I had created this comic stip using "Storyboard that". We had made this comic strip on the Storyboard That, to practice using dialogs to show our audience rather than tell what was happening on each scene. This comic stip was about How Maui slowed the sun. We found it challenging to choose characters who are similar to the Maori characters but we couldn't find anything similar because most of the characters were modern so we choose plain people. We also found challenging finding the settings because most of the settings were modern. This task was under Myths and Legends.

Winter Learning Journey - Poem

Let’s imagine that you were on the first waka to arrive at Shag Point. You had never been to New Zealand before and you had no idea what to expect. Write a poem describing how you would have felt when you arrived in New Zealand. Would you have been excited or scared? I would have felt pretty nervous, I reckon…

Feeling reluctant and anxios.
Taking steps one by one making my way to the waka.
Siting on my own with fear running across my eyes.
I had no one with me.
Siting sadly.
Slow closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes I saw land.
I jumped of the waka and said bye to the people.

Winter Learning Journey - Doing something relaxing

For the next activity I was doing something which makes me relax. The think that I chose to do it drawing. I think drawing is relaxing because I get to sit down and use my hands instead of my legs, etc.
I drew a person and I named him John.

  2. Are there anyone else in your family that sail.
  3. How old were you when you first sailed.
  4. What is your favourite hobby
  5. What is you favorite movie to watch.

Winter Learning Journey - Pest free

Today I have done a Winter Learning Journey on pests. For my task I wrote down three things that pests do and I had to read about how people in New Zealand are working to kill pests like possums. I think that these pests should be killed because...

  1. The pests damage New Zealand native trees
  2. The pests are killing New Zealand native animals like the kokako bird, Kiwis, etc.
  3. Pests have been killing lots of New Zealand animals / birds and if New Zealanders leave these pests in the future we will have no native birds.

Winter Learning Journey - Create you own flag

This is a challenge I had completed. The for the challenge I had to create my own flag. I had put the red and orange colour because I think red and orange are closely tiger's skin colour but the stripes are black but I could not put black stripes because I had put black for the box on the top left corner. I have done this as part of the Holiday learning journey called "Winter Learning Journey".

This is a DLO I had created about 5 tips for dealing with Cyberbullies. Cyberbullies are also called Trolls and Haters. Haters are people who you may know that don't like you and Trolls are people that you don't know, they might even be in another country. This learning is under cybersmart. Our tutor for cybersmart is Mr Ashurst. Mr Ashurst is our relief teacher. We have cybersmart every Thursday.
